pembroke festival 2004

Based on Festival flags - Pembroke 21C and Pembroke Town Council funded Sand Palace Arts to run a series of workshops on banner making to jazz up the town's Main Street in time for the very first Pembroke Festival in 2003. This festival passed into local history. The workshops were incredibly popular and the three metre+ banners became the talk of the town. Sand Palace Arts contributed six of their own creations and the following year the scheme was successful in obtaining funds, enabling Sand Palace Arts to offer a pilot scheme in the nearby Monkton estate. The number of flags increases each year and their display through the town in August and September is now an event in itself. This project involved Charlotte Cortazzi, Kath Levell, Pauline le Britton and Louise Midgely. Brockway Electrical provided generous assistance.
